Why Cornelius Homeowners Choose a Full-Service Landscaping Partner
Keeping a yard looking sharp takes more than mowing on a schedule.
A few of the reasons Cornelius homeowners keep coming back to Preferred Landscape Services:
- Flexible scheduling that works around your calendar and your budget, not just ours.
- A trustworthy crew that's trained, background-checked, and genuinely easy to have on your property.
- Free, no-obligation quotes and warranties that stand behind our labor and materials.
- Full bonding, licensing, and insurance, so you're never exposed to liability during a project.
You can see examples of the work we've done for neighbors across town in our photo gallery and hear directly from them on our testimonials page.
A Town That's Grown Up Around Its Farmland
Cornelius has evolved from a historic rail stop for grain, hop, and dairy farmers into a town where new apartments and townhomes blend with long-standing agricultural roots.
Because landscaping needs vary dramatically across the community—from tight grid-style Craftsman lots near Adair Street to compact yards in Laurel Woods and low-maintenance 55-plus properties on the north side—our crews tailor their approach to each specific site before work begins.
The Track Record Behind Our Name
Preferred Landscape Services was founded in 1998 by David and Gabrielle Jensen on a simple idea: do honest work and treat every yard like it matters.
That approach has earned us Angi's List Super Service Award for multiple years, and it's why thousands of households trust us.
A few things that set our team apart include:
- Landscape design led by a staff member.
- Certified backflow testing capability.
- 20+ years of trusted experience.
- A direct line to our team.

"I never realized moss could be so dangerous"
I was riding my bike around a corner on my driveway when I hit a patch of moss. I slipped and ended up breaking my foot and shoulder. I never realized moss could be so dangerous. Now I know—removing it isn’t just about appearance, it’s about keeping yourself safe.- Anonymous -
"The Workers Were Experienced and Knowledgeable About the Job They Were Doing."
The workers were experienced and knowledgeable about the job they were doing. They were efficient and friendly. The cost was exactly as stated.- Joan -
"They Were Great, Showed up on Time, Worked Hard the Whole Time They Were Here."
They were great, showed up on time, worked hard the whole time they were here, finished in a timely manner, and did everything required. In fact, I called them back to do some additional work. I would recommend them.- Stephanie -
"Outstanding Service"
David has done 4 major landscaping projects for us over about 10 years. We have been extremely happy with each project. What really shows their high quality of customer service is illustrated in how I emailed David to let him know I thought one of the sprinkler heads was leaking. He got right back to me and let me know he would stop by sometime during the week. He actually came the next day and replaced the sprinkler head with one that will handle the draining water bettter (i.e. It is in the lowest spot on the line). He emailed me with what he had done. Can't get better service than that!!!!- Jean S. -

"I can’t recommend taking care of moss soon enough!"
Moss might look harmless, but it can be dangerous. I learned that the hard way—slipping on moss on my deck caused me to break my leg. Getting rid of moss isn’t just about keeping your surfaces clean; it’s about preventing accidents and keeping your family safe. I can’t recommend taking care of moss soon enough!- Anonymous -
"They Did a Great Job, Were Very Thorough."
They did a great job, were very thorough, and the yard hasn’t looked this good in years. Even my family who had seen the place the year before couldn’t believe the transformation. I would highly recommend this company.- Judith -
"We are really happy with the quality of all the work done by David and the team!"
They re-built a large retaining wall and re-sculpted and planted the rest of our yard to match our new landscape design. It was a large job and David kept us updated with good communication the whole way through. Leo and the crew were hard-working, respectful, and tidy. The entire team was easy to work with and we love the results. Thank you!- Barb & Chris
